After a long long time I went out there on my first real vacation.
Destination was the Dominican Republic – as you maybe imagine it was a longer journey from Berlin to – finally – the Punta Cana.
Well I had a really good time there with many different impressions and mostly a relaxing vacation. I met there some Canadians, some French and of course many Dominican.
Finally I decided to write down my journey because it was such an crazy ride to Santo Domingo and of course such an impressive stay in my Resort.
Part 1 – The Cab Ride to the Airport (Berlin)
It was early in the morning when my cab arrived. The cab driver asked when my plan will start and started laughing when he heard that we had still more than an hour before i had to be at the airport. Then we made a little competition out of it, he bet he would drive me in 15minutes to the airport – i thought there is no way to do this. Sometimes life is strange it took us 14minutes to be at the airport.
He had so much fun driving me that fast and tricky to the airport he reduced my cab driving costs on 17€ (from 25€).
Part 2 – The unbelievable crowded Airport
At 5:30 am in the Morning the airport was unbelievable crowded. Especially at my check-in terminal for the flight to Madrid was a big line of humans. After I got my ticket I couldn’t go into the waiting room. I had to wait outside of the security controls, they were still closed. 10 Minutes before my flight actually would start a guy screamed behind the close door we all should directly after the security check run into the plane and opened the security controls.
Part 3 – Iberia Flight to Madrid
Iberia is a really funny company. The stewardesses are dressed in a way that remains me every time at the old Spanish flamenco dancers. Well of course they don’t speak English very well and of course not a little bit of German. So i had to speak Spanish – or more I had to try.
Part 4 – Madrid Airport
I’m still impressed of the Madrid Airport. This Airport is unbelievable big, well designed and most important it is an logical airport. Everywhere you can see signs. Funny depending of the gate on a sign there is a time-statement which tells you how long it will take to be at the gate.
I had a little bit time before my flight started so I walked a little bit through my terminal, got a coffee and talked to a strange Spanish guy.
Part 5 – Transatlantic Flight to Santo Domingo
At the Plane i got an seat at a window, next to me was an Dominican guy. We talked a little bit and after 3hours he opened his bag and took 2 bottles of rum out of it. So hell yeah I got terrible drunk at my flight, but it was an amazing funny flight. The Dominican, Fernando, and I became friends at the flight he will visit my some day in Germany and he is welcome.
Part 6 – Santo Domingo Airport
Sometimes words can’t describe something:
Did you like it so far?
Let me know it!
PS: Part 7-12 will follow soon.
